West End Village
Located in the town of Stoke (one of the six towns which make up the city of Stoke-on-Trent), West End Village opened its doors to the first residents in 2011. A large, light and airy building it contains three stories of modern apartments based along wide corridors. Along with with an annexe building there are a total of 125 apartments in which around 150 residents, aged over 55, live. The shared spaces are light and pleasant and comprise a large conservatory, cafe-bar and restaurant; members of the public are welcome to use these facilities during weekdays. There is a continuous programme of varied social and health-related activities organised by the residents and by the management of the complex. Some of the apartments are privately owned and others are part-owned or leased as social housing from Staffordshire Housing Association, who also have their new eco-office block alongside the West End Village. Outside the building there is a spacious garden, containing a large greenhouse where residents grow a range of fruit and vegetables, and a patio with seating for when the weather is fine.
